I’ve always had a fascination with atomic style robots, remember those tin toys? I thought it took such foresight to imagine robots, and what their jobs would be. Then I grew up in the time when people were (are) afraid that robots may take their jobs. I have always hoped that the people making the robots would make sure that they use their powers for good!

In 2020 I was trying to find my creativity again and I began to doodle robots, and I made a pair of articulated robots. I had so many ideas for them that I actually had to stop myself and edit what I wanted them to look like. I couldn’t believe how many ideas I had and I began making notes.

Later in 2022 I was preparing to celebrate my little one’s second birthday and I decided to do a robot theme. I began making robots for decorations and a banner-I ended up making twenty-three robots. I did have to stop myself because we were running out of room to display them all.

But I couldn’t stop! I began to draw digital illustrations of each new friend that I was meeting. I was overwhelmed with all my happy robot friends–I suddenly had eleven little robot friends! And there were more.

Now that I’m a few years into drawing these robot friends, I felt compelled to make them into sculptures. I wanted to see them 3D, and I wanted to create them with my own hands. So I chose papier-mâché  and have loved every second of creating these friends! I hope that one of these friends calls out to you, and you find a life-long friend!

All robot sculptures below will say if they’re available for adoption.

Please email me, or message me through the form below to inquire about adoptions.

My robot illustrations have become extensions of me. These mixed media sculptures are just another step in this journey. Each sculpture is comprised of many elements: wood, paper, cardboard, tape, styrofoam, wire, straws, newsprint, phone books, air dry clay,
papier-mâché  pulp and clay, acrylic paint, and so so so much love.

We think robots are supposed to be rigid and cold, but these robots are warm and sweet. These robots are sturdy and grounded showing their strength even though their stories may have some tough times; they’re here and that’s what matters. They’re giving whatever all they have today, and that’s good enough because they know the importance of self care, self love, and being open to the world.

Big News: All Robot Sculptures are now Do-Gooders! Each robot will support the Canadian Mental Health Association when they’re adopted!
